The Dark Room

Billed as follows:

“Why does the handsome prince in a fairytale never suffer a grisly end, whilst the women get pricked by spindles, gobbled by wolves, poisoned by apples and plonked into barrels full of venemous snakes, worms and toads, often for being too curious!

“Pretty gruesome stuff, yet ironically these are the original tales for children that became sanitised and put into our lady bird books!

“Hence, drawing on our enjoyment of last year’s successful “The Tinderbox” yet keeping with our love of horror, we created “The Dark Room”, a fairy tale for adults set in a Victorian photographer’s studio.

“Just like the fairytales of old we wanted this piece fo have magic, pathos, horror and tragedy! We hope we have achieved this.

“This is the first step in the development of The Dark Room which will be reworked and toured at some point later this year. We would like to thank all involved and everyone who has come to watch and we hope your fairytale has a happy end!”

You can see why it caught my eye: Victorian, photographer’s studio, fairytales, dark room, horror… and it has some lovely L&BV moments…
